Rights and Responsibilities/Frame Stories/The Arabian Nights
21 September,2017By: Anna DeRoos
We spent some time in class on Wednesday talking about rights and responsibilities of a student in a classroom. We first determined the difference between rights and responsibilities by looking at the definitions of each. Rights vs. Responsibilities -- A right is a freedom that is protected, such as the right to free speech and religion. A responsibility is a duty or something you should do, such as recycling or doing your homework. Then on a blank sheet of paper I had the students write down some ideas they have for rights and responsibilities of a student in a classroom setting. To wrap up, some students shared their answers with the group

Students learned about frame stories -- a literary device where the author tells an overarching story that contains little stories within it.

We will spend the next several days reading and analyzing The Arabian Nights together in class.
