About Me

Both of my parents were teachers. Many of my aunts, uncles, and cousins teach. Two of my grandparents taught. My family's teaching lineage goes back four generations. So naturally that's what I am doing.

I am also a fifth generation Northern Californian and am very proud of our wonderful state. I've lived in Oakland for nearly 20 years with my partner. We have two kids (both OSA students), two dogs, three chickens, and three fish. When not planning engaging curriculum and reading brilliant essays written by my students, I like to play soccer, sing karaoke, invent recipes, and build contraptions. Don't be fooled by my joking demeanor. Underneath it all, I am actually planning to take over the world via social media and excellent grammar.

I taught at OSA from 2008-2016 and took a break in 2016-17 to teach robotics in San Lorenzo. I often incorporate technology into my teaching, but I have the soul of a Luddite and see just as much value in sitting peacefully in the desert for days on end. My favorite book is Pride and Predjudice, my favorite book series is Harry Potter, and my favorite film is The Shawshank Redemption.

I look forward to working with you this year.
